Gala Dinner - Dorchester Hotel - London W1 - 22 April 2008
For the tenth consecutive year, the Embassy of Brazil and the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain will be presenting 'Personality of the Year' awards to two individuals, one British and one Brazilian, who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of trade and investment between Brazil and the United Kingdom.
The awards will be presented at a gala dinner in the ballroom of The Dorchester in London on Tuesday 22 April, at 7.30pm.
The Brazilian recipient this year will be the president of the council of TAM Brazilian Airlines, Mrs Maria Claudia Oliveira Amaro, in recognition of her important contribution to the increase in cultural and economic exchanges between the two countries, as well as to the development of British tourism in Brazil.
The British recipient will be Mr Peter Sutherland, KCMG, chairman of British Petroleum plc, in recognition of the company's investments and business-creation in Brazil since 1957.
As on previous occasions there will be an audience of several hundred people representing the business communities of both countries.
The British keynote speaker at the event will be John Hutton, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. The Brazilian speaker is still to be confirmed.
