The Brazilian government expresses its profound concern at the dramatic increase in tension and armed confrontations in the Gaza Strip and the south of Israel over the last few days, which has caused the deaths or more than a hundred people, including children, and claimed numerous victims among the civilian population.

Brazil urges the parties involved to cease hostilities immediately, and to avoid disproportionate reprisals that threaten the stability of the region, feed the spiral of violence, and have an adverse effect on the peace efforts taking place in the framework of the Annapolis Conference.
