Internet Governance Forum

Under the auspices of the United Nations the second meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will take place in Rio de Janeiro between 12 and 15 November 2007.
Consisting of representatives from governments, civil society, the private sector and academia, the forum is a multi-sectoral mechanism for dialogue on the subject of the worldwide web. It was created during the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Tunis in 2005, and its first meeting took place in Athens in November 2006.
