Crisis won’t affect infrastructure investment – President Lula

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said today that turbulence in the financial markets would not hold back the investment in major infrastructural projects scheduled as part of the Growth Acceleration Programme (Programa de Aceleração de Crescimento – PAC).

Speaking to journalists after a meeting in Brasilia with King Abdullah II of Jordan, President Lula said that 'to face up to a crisis that didn't originate in Brazil but in the heart of global capitalism, the best thing to do is to produce more, to invest more in infrastructure’.

President Lula referred to the recent economic measures taken to increase market liquidity, and called on industry to continue investing. 'Now Brazil has to go on the attack and make things happen,' he said.
