Government Interoperability Frameworks under discussion in Rio
20 April 2010
The Global Meeting on Government Interoperability Frameworks (GIFs) 2010 will be taking place in Rio de Janeiro on 4-6 May, organized by the Brazilian Government in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme.
The event aims to promote the effective integration of national and local public institutions, and their effective interaction with the public, through the use of new information and communication technologies. This will enable the institutions to offer better services and information to the public, and will also contribute towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
There will be more than 100 participants – including high-level government representatives, experts, policymakers, non-governmental organizations, companies and multilateral institutions – from over 50 developing and developed countries in which GIFs have already been successfully implemented. Among the issues to be discussed are the relationship between GIFs and national development agendas, the role of interoperability, and strategies for interoperability.
