Fund created for donations to Rio relief effort
21 April 2010
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have set up a special fund to help families in Rio de Janeiro affected by the recent torrential rains and mudslides.
Those wishing to make a financial donation are requested to use the following UNICEF bank account at Banco do Brasil:
Branch: 3382-0
Current account number: 404700-1
UNICEF CNPJ (identification number): 03.744.126/0001-69
Those requiring a receipt should send an email to futurocrianca@unicef.org stating their full name (and, for Brazilian citizens, CPF number), address, and the amount and date of their donation.
All funds will be used to support the efforts being made by the government and civil society to ensure that children and pregnant women made homeless by the rains and mudslides have enough food; sufficiently hygienic living conditions; access to medicines, study materials and toys; and protection against any form of abuse or violence.
