The UK-Brazil Year of Science & Innovation is a direct result of a science, technology and innovation action plan signed during the visit of President Lula to the UK in 2006, and was launched in March by the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology and the British Government.
The Year of Science aims to promote the relationship between the Brazilian and British scientific and R&D (Research & Development) communities. The programme facilitates the sharing of knowledge and exchange of information, and aims to establish partnerships and co-operation agreements in science, innovation, and technology.
Throughout the Year of Science a series of events sponsored by the British Government and its Brazilian partners are being held in the Uk and in Brazil. These events are divided into four major themes: Planet Earth, Human Life, Reaching Beyond and Creativity.
